1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the recent death of Lois Anne Rosen of Chicago; and
4 WHEREAS, Lois Anne Rosen was well known in the Chicago
5 area as an advocate in labor relations; and
6 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosen attended the University of Chicago,
7 where she received two master's degrees; and
8 WHEREAS, She served for the last twenty-two years as
9 executive director of the Labor Coalition on Public
10 Utilities; and
11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosen was a founding member of the
12 Southwest Community Congress, as well as serving as its
13 second Vice President; and
14 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosen was the Executive Vice President of
15 the Chicago Chapter of the Coalition of Labor Union Women; an
16 elected delegate to the Chicago Federation of Labor and the
17 Illinois State AFL-CIO; and executive director of the South
18 Lynne Community Council in West Englewood; and
19 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosen was appointed to the Statewide Health
20 Coordinating Council by Governor Dan Walker of Illinois in
21 the 1970's; and
22 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosen served as chairwoman of the
23 employment committee for the Chicago Commission on Women,
24 under the administrations of both Mayor Harold Washington and
25 Mayor Eugene Sawyer; and
26 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosen spent many years as a leader in the
27 P.T.A., the Y.W.C.A., and the Back of the Yards Neighborhood
28 Council; and
29 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosen worked within the City of Chicago to

1 organize protests against the war in Vietnam as well as
2 protests for civil rights and the Equal Rights Amendment; and
3 WHEREAS, Mrs. Rosen will be missed by her husband Frank;
4 son Carl; two daughters Rachel and Rebecca; and six
5 grandchildren; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
7 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we send our sincere
8 condolences to the family and friends of Lois Anne Rosen; and
9 be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Lois Anne Rosen.
