1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Mr. William Turner Parks of Chicago on
4 Friday, January 24, 1997; and
5 WHEREAS, He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on January
6 26, 1919, the son of Reverend William T. Parks and Mable
7 Pierce Parks Dickerson; and
8 WHEREAS, A member of Automobile Mechanics Local #701 and
9 the Christ Cathedral Baptist Church in Chicago, Bill Turner
10 served his community as a member and past president of the
11 1300 West 108th Place Block Club; he was instrumental in the
12 construction of the Lamb Tot Lot and the pedestrian crosswalk
13 at 108th Street at Vincennes; he was also active politically
14 in encouraging the citizens of the community to exercise
15 their right to vote; and
16 WHEREAS, Bill and Lois Parks celebrated their golden
17 wedding anniversary on May 4, 1996; they were the loving
18 parents of Akkhmand Sage and the late Delores; and
19 WHEREAS, William Turner Parks will be sadly missed by his
20 family and friends, especially his wife, Lois; his son,
21 Akkhmand Sage; his grandson, Hugh L. Flemming, Jr.; his
22 granddaughter, Ginni L. Flemming; his great-grandchildren, Ja
23 Hanna, Derrick, To'mas, Hugh, and Nyema; his sisters, Dorothy
24 Rowland, Delores Borden, Mary Brunson, and Janice Williamson;
25 and his brothers, Charles, David, and George Dickerson;
26 therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
28 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret
29 the death of Mr. William Turner Parks and extend our sincere
30 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further
31 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
