1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The member of this Body are saddened to learn of
3 the death of Odessa Lovett of Chicago, Illinois on February
4 28, 1997; and
5 WHEREAS, Odessa Lovett was born in Anquilla, Mississippi,
6 on August 8, 1921, the daughter of David and Laura Holmes;
7 and
8 WHEREAS, Odessa became a believer in Jesus Christ at an
9 early age; Odessa served faithfully in both the Progressive
10 Pentecostal Church and later in the Beulah Progressive
11 Pentecostal Church when the two churches merged; Odessa
12 served under both Bishop Fitz H. Barclay and his son Pastor
13 Thomas A. Barclay; and
14 WHEREAS, Odessa was very devoted to her family; she was a
15 dedicated homemaker; and served both her family and her
16 church faithfully; and
17 WHEREAS, Odessa is survived by her loving children; Gert
18 and her husband Curtis and Donald and his wife Ruby; her
19 grandchildren Valerie, Ivy, Ronald, Jr., Veronica, Chauncey,
20 Debra, Belinda, Peter, Greg, Donald, and Charles; her
21 great-grandchildren Shiree, Jake, Alexis, Destiney, T.J.,
22 Jonathan, Victoria, Chanery, Jasmine, Donald, Jr., and
23 Brianna; her sister Laura Watson; her five
24 granddaughters-in-law, four grandsons-in-law, her many
25 cousins, and a host of friends; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
27 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with the
28 family and friends, the death of Odessa Lovett; and be it
29 further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
31 presented to the family of Odessa Lovett of Chicago,
