1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of This Body were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Mary Popp of Aurora, Illinois on January 31,
4 1997; and
5 WHEREAS, Mary Popp was born in Aurora, Illinois on July
6 24, 1912; the daughter of Dimitru and Floarea Moldovan, Mary
7 was united in holy matrimony with Michael Popp on July 7,
8 1934; and
9 WHEREAS, Mary was a member of St. Michael's Church, where
10 she was actively involved; Mary was a member of the St.
11 Michael's Ladies Auxiliary and aided them in their annual
12 fundraising times around Thanksgiving and Easter; Mary was an
13 excellent baker and enjoyed baking the Romanian bread kifla
14 to sell at the fundraisers; and
15 WHEREAS, Mary was employed for several years with Lyon
16 Metal Products; she retired from MVS Steel in 1975; and
17 WHEREAS, Mary is remembered as a nice woman who always
18 had a smile and who stayed involved with the Romanian
19 community within Aurora; and
20 WHEREAS, Mary is survived by her daughter Joan Popp; her
21 son Dan Popp; her grandson Steven Popp; her sister Florence
22 Kish; her brother Steve Moldovan and his wife June; her
23 god-daughters Mary Edmeier and her husband Tom and Martha
24 Callahan and her husband Hal; and several nieces and nephews;
25 therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
27 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn along with her
28 family, the death of Mary Popp of Aurora, Illinois; and be it
29 further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
