1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Joseph J. Ciaccio of Springfield on
4 Wednesday, May 21, 1997; and
5 WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Springfield, he was born
6 on December 21, 1922, the son of Leonard and Maria Sacco
7 Ciaccio; and
8 WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Cathedral Boys High School,
9 Springfield College in Illinois, and the Lincoln College of
10 Law; he was admitted to the Bar in 1951 and served as an
11 attorney for the State Department of Financial Institutions
12 and the Office of Commissioner of Banks and Trusts Companies
13 for thirty-five years; and
14 WHEREAS, He was appointed by Governor Richard B. Ogilvie
15 to serve as First Deputy Commissioner of Banks and Trust
16 Companies and was reappointed by every governor until his
17 retirement in 1979; he also was a member of the law firm
18 Ciaccio and Ciaccio; and
19 WHEREAS, A World War II veteran of the United States
20 Army, Mr. Ciaccio was a member of Christ the King Church; he
21 was past president of the Roman Cultural Society and was also
22 affiliated with the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the
23 Sangamo Club, the Illinois and Sangamon County Bar
24 Associations, and the Eagles Club; and
25 WHEREAS, Joseph Ciaccio will be deeply missed by his
26 family and friends, especially his wife, Angela; his
27 daughters, Mary Alsup, Angela Foley, and Natalie Bales; his
28 sons, Joseph and Nicholas; his son-in-law, Jay Bales; ten
29 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
31 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret

1 the death of Mr. Joseph Ciaccio and extend our sincere
2 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to his wife, Mrs. Angela Ciaccio, as an expression
5 of our sympathy.
