1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the passing of M.J. "Bud" Suerth of Chicago,
4 Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Bud Suerth was an innovative individual in the
6 funeral home business of Chicago; Mr. Suerth believed in
7 making an area where the grieving could seek solace, a place
8 much like their own living rooms; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Suerth was known as a dapper and stylish
10 dresser; he would be seen around the neighborhood of Edison
11 Park with his handle bar mustache; Mr. Suerth made sure that
12 the funeral home was a place where people felt welcome; he
13 always owned the latest automobiles, and once had the staff
14 wear white uniforms, including hats and tuxedos; and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Suerth retired from his beloved business in
16 1967; he would spend his summers in the Edison Park
17 neighborhood and his winters in Tequesta, Florida; Bud Suerth
18 is survived by his sister Adele Schrage, and his brother
19 Robert; therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
21 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his
22 family and friends, the death of M.J. "Bud" Suerth of
23 Chicago, Illinois; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to the family of Bud Suerth, along with our deepest
26 condolences.
