1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois and the City of
3 Springfield have lost a great man with the death of Bishop
4 Theodore T. Rose; and
5 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
6 to learn of the death of Bishop Rose and send their sincere
7 condolences to his family, friends, and fellow Christians;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Bishop Rose was born July 21, 1904 in Harvey,
10 Illinois; Bishop Rose moved to Springfield in 1925 and
11 founded the Greater All Nation Tabernacle Church of God in
12 Christ; for fifty years he served as minister, and in 1983
13 became the Bishop for the Central Illinois Jurisdiction; and
14 WHEREAS, Bishop Rose served as a chairman of the County
15 Human Relations Commission; he was a member and secretary of
16 the County Children's Home (known as the Welfare Commission),
17 served a three-year term on the advising board to the
18 Judicial Circuit Court, was a member of the Neighborhood
19 Development Commission, was chairman of the Social Action
20 Commission in the Springfield Ministerial Alliance, and was a
21 member of the Minority Commission on school problems; Bishop
22 Rose was elected to the Sangamon County TB Board and the USC
23 Board as Lay Delegate and worked with Springfield School
24 District 186; and
25 WHEREAS, Bishop Rose is survived by his daughter, Dorothy
26 A. Wells; his seven grandchildren; his eleven
27 great-grandchildren; his two brothers, Albert Watson and
28 David Watson; his two sisters, Ruth Julia Hall and Myrtle
29 Flynn; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews, and
30 his extended church family; therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY

1 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his
2 family and friends, the death of Bishop Theodore T. Rose of
3 Springfield, Illinois; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Bishop Rose.
