1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The Senate is saddened by the death of Katherine
3 Lucille Hopwoodon on December 6, 1997; and
4 WHEREAS, Katherine Lucille Hopwood was a resident of
5 Springfield most of her life and was preceded in death by her
6 husband, Harold; and
7 WHEREAS, Katherine Lucille Hopwood served as a nurses'
8 aid at various hospitals and nursing homes in Springfield and
9 was noted for her compassion and kindness for those under her
10 care and was a devoted member of the Elliot Avenue Baptist
11 Church of Springfield; and
12 WHEREAS, The greatest source of pride of Katherine
13 Lucille Hopwood were her eight children, her sons Ronald,
14 John and Stanley, her daughters Dorothy, Linda, Nancy, Dee
15 and Mary, and her sixteen grandchildren and six great
16 grandchildren and her brother, Robert; and
17 WHEREAS, The life of Katherine Lucille Hopwood stands as
18 a memorial of devotion to her family, her faith and her
19 community and her good works and generous spirit will long be
20 remembered by her family and many friends; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
22 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, That we offer our sincerest
23 condolences to the family of Katherine Lucille Hopwood upon
24 her death and extend our heartfelt sympathy for the loss of
25 their mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister; and
26 be it further
27 RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this preamble and
28 resolution be presented to the family of Katherine Lucille
29 Hopwood as a measure of our esteem for her and her good
30 works.
