1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Mrs. Norine Mann Taylor; and
4 WHEREAS, Norine Mann Taylor was born in Union City,
5 Tennessee on September 10, 1903; her parents were Ora Gary
6 and George Mann, Sr.; she was preceded in death by five
7 sisters and two brothers; and
8 WHEREAS, As a youngster, Norine Mann Taylor attended
9 public schools in Brownsville, Tennessee; on July 6, 1918,
10 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. James Taylor, Sr.; to
11 this blessed union was born three sons: James Jr., Arthur
12 Chatman, and Charles Augusta, and three daughters: Ethel Mae,
13 Armogene, and Mattie Louise; and
14 WHEREAS, In 1924 the family moved to St. Louis, Missouri;
15 in 1933, Norine and James moved their family to East St.
16 Louis, Illinois; in 1933, Norine Taylor was saved,
17 sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost in the home of
18 Mother Yancy on South 17th Street in East St. Louis; Mother
19 Taylor joined with the Church of God in Christ Congregational
20 Church, under the pastorate of the late Bishop George Slack;
21 Mother Taylor spent her last years at the Greater Liberty
22 Church of God in Christ; and
23 WHEREAS, Mother Taylor received a Deaconess Missionary
24 license on July 19, 1963, and her Evangelist Missionary
25 License on July 20, 1973; Mother Taylor also served as
26 treasurer of the W.P.W.W.; Mother Taylor was known for her
27 commitment to God, her encouraging words to others, and her
28 inspiration to all that knew her; and
29 WHEREAS, Mother Norine Taylor is survived by her sons,
30 James Jr., and his wife, Ellie Ree, and Charles Augusta; her
31 daughters, Armogene and husband Arbyle, and Mattie Louise;

1 her eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and
2 great-great grandchildren, as well as many other family
3 members and friends; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
5 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we send our sincere
6 condolences to the family of Mother Norine Mann Taylor; may
7 they find comfort in this time of need; and be it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to the family of Mother Norine Taylor.
