1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to hear
3 of the death of Lester M. Springman of Greenfield on Monday,
4 December 29, 1997; and
5 WHEREAS, He was born in Kane on April 23, 1917, the son
6 of the late Henry and Susie Turner Springman; he was a 1934
7 graduate of Kane High School; he was a veteran of the U.S.
8 Navy during World War II; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Springman was affiliated with the First
10 Baptist Church, Fitzsimmons American Legion Post 225, the
11 Lions Club, Crawford Legion Post, Past Patron of the Kane and
12 Greenfield Masonic Lodges, the Elizabeth Chapter of the
13 Order of the Eastern Star, and the White Hall Sportsman Club;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, He had served as a member of the Greene County
16 Board for forty years and served as chairman for several
17 years; he was Supervisor of Kane Township for twelve years
18 and served twenty-eight years as Supervisor of Rockbridge
19 Township; and
20 WHEREAS, He was Past President of the Jacksonville Area
21 Association of Retarded Citizens and of the Project Life; he
22 was Vice President of the Human Rights Authority Region 3A;
23 he was a member of the P.I.C. Council and of the West Central
24 Planning Commission; and he was Chairman of the Greene County
25 Housing Authority at the time of his death; and
26 WHEREAS, He will be greatly missed by all including his
27 wife, Marjorie; his daughter and son-in-law, Lesta and Eric
28 Lamb; his son, Roger; and his grandchildren, Jason and
29 Lindsay Lamb and Heather Devino; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
31 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend our sincere

1 condolences to the family of Lester M. Springman; and be it
2 further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to his widow, Mrs. Marjorie Springman.
