1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Glenis Boyce of Chicago, Illinois;
4 and
5 WHEREAS, Glenis Sweat was born in Helena, Arkansas on May
6 9, 1922; her parents were George Shead and Lillie Sweat; she
7 was the youngest of eight children; and
8 WHEREAS, Glenis was married to Sidney Boyce in 1947;
9 after he went on to Chicago to find employment, she soon
10 followed with their children; Glenis was able to find "day
11 work" for many years until 1968 when she found employment
12 with the housekeeping department at Franklin Boulevard
13 Hospital, where she retired in 1990; and
14 WHEREAS, Glenis confessed a belief and hope in Jesus
15 Christ at an early age while attending Second Baptist Church
16 in West Helena, Arkansas; Glenis will be remembered as a
17 woman who was strong willed and God fearing; she was devoted
18 to her family, truly loving, defending, and cherishing all
19 her children; and
20 WHEREAS, Glenis Boyce is mourned by her husband, Sidney
21 Boyce, Sr.; her sons, Sidney Boyce, Jr., Jerome Boyce, and
22 Stanley Boyce; her daughter, Linda Boyce Newsome; her
23 brothers, Richard Underwood, Moses Shead, and Ellis Casey;
24 her brother-in-law, Reverend Roscoe Moore; her grandchildren,
25 Kimberly Phillips (Darryl), Michael Wesson, Nina Waiters,
26 Tamara Davis (Nelson), Anthony Boyce (Ingrid), Rodrick Boyce,
27 Kaisha Flenory, Bionks Boyce, Brianna Boyce, and Cheyenne
28 Boyce; her great-grandchildren, Cortne' Williams, Brianna
29 Davis, Michael Perry, Tavaris Perry, Christian Phillips, and
30 Bailey Davis; therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY

1 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her
2 family and friends, the death of Glenis Boyce of Chicago,
3 Illinois; may her family and friends find comfort in this
4 time of loss; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of Glenis Boyce.
