1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate are saddened to learn
3 of the death of Leonard "Jake" Hertel of Hillsboro on Monday,
4 October 12, 1998; and
5 WHEREAS, He was born on June 7, 1912 in Worden, the son
6 of William Carl and Ida Mae Welch Hertel; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Hertel was employed as a hoisting engineer
8 at Coffeen Coal Mine from 1963 until 1978; and
9 WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II,
10 Mr. Hertel was a member of Masonic Lodge 1016 at Christopher,
11 Hillsboro Lions Club, United Mine Workers of America,
12 American Legion, and Mulkeytown School Board; and
13 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
14 and friends, especially his wife, Nola B.; his son, Roy; his
15 daughter-in-law, Nanci; his grandson; and his brother, Marvin
16 "Bob" Hertel; therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
18 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret
19 the death of Leonard "Jake" Hertel and extend our sincere
20 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further
21 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to his widow, Nola B. Hertel.
