1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate are saddened to learn
3 of the death of Nimrod Wayne "Jake" Dittus of Litchfield on
4 Friday, November 20, 1998; and
5 WHEREAS, He was born on March 30, 1931 in Lincoln, the
6 son of Albert Herman and Wilhelmina Schaffenacker Dittus; he
7 graduated from Mount Pulaski High School in 1949; and
8 WHEREAS, He farmed for 46 years and was employed at the
9 Illinois State Treasurer's Office for 10 years, retiring in
10 1993; and
11 WHEREAS, He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in
12 Litchfield and an associate member of the Redeemer by the Sea
13 Lutheran Church in Carlsbad, California; and
14 WHEREAS, He was a member and past board member of the
15 Montgomery County Farm Bureau, served on the board of
16 directors for the Litchfield Farmers Grain and Livestock
17 Company, served on the board of the Illinois Valley Black
18 Angus Association, was a member of Illinois Black Angus
19 Association, and a member of Illinois Pork Producers
20 Association; and
21 WHEREAS, He served as Democratic precinct committeeman
22 for North Litchfield No. 1 for several years and was a past
23 chairman of the Montgomery County Democratic Central
24 Committee; he was the official scorekeeper for Litchfield
25 High School basketball teams for 22 years; and
26 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
27 and friends, especially his wife, Dorothy; his daughters,
28 Dana Klim, Lori Jacobs, and Jane Dittus; his sons-in-law,
29 William Klim and James Jacobs; three grandchildren; his
30 sister, Nigel Schroeder; and his stepbrother, John Prange;
31 therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
2 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow and regret
3 the death of Nimrod W. Dittus and extend our most sincere
4 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to his widow, Dorothy J. Dittus.
