1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Anna Brown of Toledo, Ohio; and
4 WHEREAS, Anna Brown was director of residents at the
5 Toledo Florence Crittenton Services, a haven for unwed girls
6 and women; she would help the women through their pregnancy
7 and then help them find jobs and places to live; and
8 WHEREAS, She was past president and secretary of the
9 Zonta Club of Toledo, an international service organization
10 dedicated to serving women and children; Mrs. Brown worked on
11 the chapter newsletter and served as the unofficial historian
12 of the group; and
13 WHEREAS, Mrs. Brown was an avid walker, spending her
14 mornings in Wildwood Metropark, taking a morning walk and
15 watching birds; she also enjoyed spending time with her
16 family; and
17 WHEREAS, Mrs. Brown was born in Booneville, Arkansas, and
18 had taken her grandchildren fishing there; and
19 WHEREAS, She was an active supporter of COMPASS,
20 Comprehensive Addiction Services; she also enjoyed sewing and
21 designing costumes for the Toledo Repertoire Theatre and
22 visiting the Toledo Museum of Art; she was a member of
23 Epworth United Methodist Church; and
24 WHEREAS, Anna Brown is survived by her stepsons, Robert
25 and David E. Brown; her sister, Lucille Roberts; her six
26 grandchildren, and her sixteen great-grandchildren;
27 therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
29 OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her
30 family and friends, the death of Anna Brown; may they find

1 peace and solace in this time of need; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the family of Anna Brown.
