 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1697

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill  1697  on  page  2,
 3    line  32,  by  replacing  "policy."  with  "policy.  The term
 4    "nonpayment of premium" does not include a check, credit card
 5    charge, or money order that an applicant gives or  has  given
 6    to  any  person for the initial premium payment for a policy,
 7    renewal  policy,  binder,  or   application   and   that   is
 8    subsequently  dishonored for payment, and any policy, renewal
 9    policy, binder, or application  in  connection  therewith  is
10    void  and  of  no  effect and not subject to the cancellation
11    provisions of this Code.".
