1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2085
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 2085 by replacing
3 the title with the following:
4 "AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by changing
5 Section 12-205 and 12-205.1."; and
6 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
7 following:
8 "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
9 changing Sections 12-501 and 12-501.1 as follows:
10 (625 ILCS 5/12-205) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-205)
11 Sec. 12-205. Lamps on other vehicles and equipment. Every
12 vehicle, including animal drawn vehicles, referred to in
13 paragraph (b) of Section 12-101, not specifically required by
14 the provisions of this Article to be equipped with lamps or
15 other lighting devices, shall at all times specified in
16 Section 12-201 of this Code Act be equipped with at least 2
17 lamps on the power or towing unit, displaying a white light
18 visible from a distance of not less than 1,000 feet to the
19 front of such vehicle and shall also be equipped with 2 lamps
20 each displaying a red light visible from a distance of not
21 less than 1,000 feet to the rear of such vehicle.

1 Where the towed unit or any load thereon partially or
2 totally obscures the 2 lamps displaying red light to the rear
3 of the towing unit, the rearmost towed unit shall be equipped
4 with 2 lamps displaying red light visible from a distance of
5 not less than 1,000 feet to the rear of such towed unit which
6 are positioned in such a manner as to not obstruct the
7 visibility of the red light to any vehicle operator
8 approaching from the rear of such vehicle or combination of
9 vehicles.
10 Where the 2 lamps displaying red light are not obscured
11 by the towed unit or its load, then either towing unit or
12 towed unit, or both, may be equipped with the 2 lamps
13 displaying red light as required.
14 The preceding paragraph does not apply to antique
15 vehicles. An antique vehicle shall be equipped with lamps of
16 the same type originally installed by the manufacturer as
17 original equipment and in working order.

20 Sec. 12-205.1. Implements of husbandry or slow-moving
21 vehicles-Display of amber signal lamp. Every animal drawn
22 vehicle, farm tractor, implement of husbandry and special
23 mobile equipment, except when used for road construction or
24 maintenance within the limits of a construction or
25 maintenance project where traffic control devices are used in
26 compliance with the applicable provisions of the manual and
27 specifications adopted under Section 11-301 of this the
28 Illinois Vehicle Code, when operated on a highway during a
29 time when lighted lamps are required by Section 12-201 of
30 this Chapter, shall display to the rear at least one flashing
31 amber signal lamp mounted as high as practicable and of
32 sufficient intensity to be visible for a distance of at least
33 500 feet in normal sunlight; provided, that only the rearmost

1 vehicle of a combination of vehicles coupled together need
2 display such lamp. The flashing amber signal lamp may be
3 operated lighted during daylight hours when other lamps are
4 not required to be lighted when vehicles authorized in this
5 Section are operated on a highway.
