 1        AN ACT to amend the Illinois Public Aid Code by  changing
 2    Section 1-3.

 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:

 5        Section 5.  The Illinois Public Aid Code  is  amended  by
 6    changing Section 1-3 as follows:

 7        (305 ILCS 5/1-3) (from Ch. 23, par. 1-3)
 8        Sec. 1-3. Prior statute.
 9        The provisions of this Code, so far as they are the same,
10    or  substantially  the  same,  as  the  1949  Code  shall  be
11    construed  as a continuation of the such prior provisions and
12    not as a new enactment. If in any other law reference is made
13    to the 1949 Code, or a section thereof which is continued  in
14    this  Code, the such reference shall be held to refer to this
15    Code or the section thereof so continued.
