1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for
5 the people of the State of Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
7 Richard Thomas Wilson of Taylorville have celebrated the
8 fiftieth anniversary of their marriage; and
9 WHEREAS, Richard Thomas Wilson and the former Jean Gibbs
10 were united in holy matrimony on February 29, 1948, at Davis
11 Memorial Christian Church, located at the corner of
12 Washington and Adams Street in Taylorville, Illinois; and
13 WHEREAS, Richard T. Wilson attended Beloit College in
14 Beloit, Wisconsin, later returning to Taylorville where he
15 was employed with the C & I M Railroad Company for over 10
16 years; he was then employed with York Division of Borg Warner
17 Corporation as a tool and die maker until his retirement in
18 March of 1993; and
19 WHEREAS, Jean Gibbs was employed after graduation from
20 Taylorville High School with F.W. Woolworth as a cashier for
21 six years; she was then employed with Liberty Mutual
22 Insurance Company, retiring as Senior Underwriter in August
23 of 1990 after 37 years of employment; and
24 WHEREAS, They are the loving parents of one son, Richard
25 Thomas Wilson Jr. of Taylorville and the very proud
26 grandparents of Laura Jean Wilson, Heather Lynne Wilson, and
27 Maureen Ann Wilson; and
28 WHEREAS, They have lived their entire lives in
29 Taylorville, Illinois; and
30 WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its

1 highest plateaus when a couple such as Richard and Jean
2 Wilson celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and
3 WHEREAS, They stand as an example to all in their
4 commitment to the sanctity of marriage and their love and
5 devotion to each other and to their family and friends; they
6 serve as a reminder to all that hard work, dedication, and
7 love for the morals that build and preserve our country can
8 make a difference in today's world; therefore be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11 we congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Richard T. Wilson on the
12 occasion of their golden wedding anniversary; that we commend
13 them for achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with a
14 son and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we
15 wish them happiness and good health in the future; and be it
16 further
17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to them as an expression of our respect and esteem.
