1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of this House that
3 Jack Hardy will be inducted into the Illinois Basketball
4 Coaches Association Hall of Fame at Illinois State University
5 in Normal on April 24; and
6 WHEREAS, Jack Hardy was born in Danville and went to
7 Schlarman High School before his family moved to Westville;
8 he attended Eastern Illinois University; and
9 WHEREAS, After graduation, he returned to Westville as a
10 physical education teacher and began his coaching career as
11 an assistant in football, basketball, and track; he took over
12 as head basketball coach for the 1970-1971 season at the age
13 of 28; and
14 WHEREAS, Jack Hardy coached the Westville High School
15 basketball team for 17 years, from the 1970-71 season through
16 the 1986-87 season; he compiled a 245-178 record; and
17 WHEREAS, He guided the Tigers to two Wauseca titles, one
18 ICC title, four Vermilion County titles, three regional
19 titles, and one sectional title; and
20 WHEREAS, A man whose deep love of basketball drove him to
21 great achievements, Jack Hardy was a true inspiration to many
22 young athletes; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25 we congratulate Jack Hardy on being inducted into the
26 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and we
27 express our sincere wish for continued health and happiness
28 in the future; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Jack Hardy as an expression of our deep respect
