1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this House are pleased and
3 honored to recognize significant achievements in the lives of
4 individuals of this great State; and
5 WHEREAS, Sam Jenny was inducted posthumously into the
6 Trapshooting Hall of Fame in Dayton, Ohio, on August 17,
7 1999; and
8 WHEREAS, For 20 years Sam Jenny was rated as one of the
9 world's best shooters, both at clay targets and flyers; he
10 earned his first major awards at the 1922 Great Lakes Zone
11 tournament where he won the all-around title with 556x600 and
12 the Preliminary Handicap with 94 out of 100 from 23 yards;
13 and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Jenny collected five Grand American Trophies
15 during his career; he captured the 1926 Clay Target title, in
16 1929 he won the Doubles Championship and finished second in
17 Governor's Cup HOA, and in 1932 he earned high-gun honors in
18 the Vandalia Handicap; and
19 WHEREAS, At Illinois state tournaments, Mr. Jenny claimed
20 the 1930 handicap crown and two years later he was the State
21 doubles champ; he won the 1929 Grand International Handicap
22 in Tecumseh, Ontario; and
23 WHEREAS, Through his twenty years of competitive
24 shooting, Sam Jenny won many awards, including being named to
25 the 1929 All-American team; and
26 WHEREAS, An ATA life member since 1924, Sam Jenny passed
27 away on June 19, 1964 at the age of 75; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30 we join in honoring the memory of Sam Jenny and his

1 remarkable marksmanship; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
3 presented to his children, Evelyn J. Goodin and Sam Jenny.
