1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the untimely death
4 of Molly R. Hatcher; and
5 WHEREAS, Molly Hatcher was known for her bell-bottom
6 jeans, her rainbow-colored T-shirts, and wearing glitter on
7 her face; and
8 WHEREAS, Molly Hatcher was the middle child of seven, all
9 of whom swam competitively; Molly Hatcher was elected to
10 serve as team captain by both her Evanston Township High
11 School and Kenyon College swim teams; as a member of the
12 Kenyon College team, she helped the team continue it's streak
13 of 16 consecutive NCAA Division III championships; and
14 WHEREAS, In high school, Molly Hatcher was recognized for
15 her talent in swimming the freestyle and butterfly strokes;
16 she was a medalist in State competitions in her junior and
17 senior high years; Molly Hatcher was also a member of the
18 boys' varsity water polo team, because the school did not
19 have a team for girls; and
20 WHEREAS, During her high school summers, Molly Hatcher
21 would work at a camp, teaching young people how to swim; in
22 college she majored in psychology with an emphasis on women's
23 studies; and
24 WHEREAS, Molly Hatcher is survived by her parents,
25 Patricia and Albert Hatcher; her sisters, Erin, Emily,
26 Abigail, Maggie, and Grace; her brother, Brett; and her
27 grandparents, Dorothy and Herbert Horwitz, and Vera Hatcher;
28 therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
31 we mourn, along with all who knew her, the death of Molly

2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the family of Molly R. Hatcher.
