1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of
3 this Body welcome the opportunity to recognize citizens of
4 this State who have made outstanding and heroic deeds; and
5 WHEREAS, On January 17, 2000, Jose Jaime Esparza died
6 tragically while trying to save the life of his father, Raul,
7 Jr., when a fire blazed in their home; and
8 WHEREAS, Jose Jaime Esparza was born on September 23,
9 1967; he was known to his family and friends as Jaime and was
10 the General Manager of Community Services for the American
11 Red Cross of Greater Chicago; and
12 WHEREAS, For eight years, Jaime Esparza was a leader with
13 the American Red Cross to Chicago-area community groups and
14 youth in educating them to help save lives; he was committed
15 to the Youth Leadership Training, a Red Cross program that
16 offers learning opportunities to at-risk adolescents to help
17 them develop valuable life and job skills; and
18 WHEREAS, In memory of Jaime Esparza's life, the American
19 Red Cross has chosen to rename the Youth Leadership Training
20 the Jaime Esparza Youth Leadership Program; and
21 WHEREAS, Jaime Esparza was also involved in other
22 community services, including a Catholic volunteer group for
23 young adults, the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum in Pilsen,
24 and Quigley Seminary High School; and
25 WHEREAS, The passing of Jose Jaime Esparza will be deeply
26 felt by his family and friends, especially his mother, Maria;
27 his nine siblings; and his many nephews and nieces;
28 therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we note with sorrow and regret the death of Jose Jaime
2 Esparza and extend our sincere condolences to his family and
3 friends; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Jose Jaime Esparza.
