1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The University of Illinois football program
3 electrified the State of Illinois with a thrilling 8-4
4 season, setting a school record for scoring in a season,
5 defeating Michigan and Ohio State on the road in the same
6 season and beating Virginia 63-21 in the Micronpc.com Bowl;
7 and
8 WHEREAS, The University of Illinois football program
9 posted victories at Michigan, 35-29, Ohio State, 46-20, Iowa,
10 40-24, and Louisville, 41-36, becoming the first Illinois
11 team in history to win at Michigan and Ohio State in the same
12 season; and
13 WHEREAS, The University of Illinois team set a school
14 record for offensive production, scoring 388 points,
15 averaging nearly 33 points per game, including 35 points
16 against Michigan and 46 points against Ohio State; and
17 WHEREAS, The University of Illinois team defeated
18 Arkansas State, San Diego State, and Northwestern at Memorial
19 Stadium; and
20 WHEREAS, The University of Illinois football program set
21 22 bowl and school records in defeating the University of
22 Virginia 63-21 in the 10th Annual Micronpc.com Bowl at Pro
23 Player Stadium in Miami, Florida, December 30, 1999,
24 thrilling fans nationwide; and
25 WHEREAS, University of Illinois quarterback Kurt Kittner
26 broke a school record with 24 touchdown passes in a single
27 season, throwing two touchdown passes, catching one, and
28 running for one in earning Micronpc.com Bowl Most Valuable
29 Player honors; and
30 WHEREAS, The University of Illinois football program and
31 Head Coach Ron Turner brought considerable pride to the State

1 of Illinois with its tremendous success during the 1999
2 season; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5 we wish to recognize and honor the University of Illinois
6 football program and Head Coach Ron Turner; and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Head Coach Ron Turner.
