1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives were
3 saddened to learn of the tragic death on January 17, 2000 of
4 Jose Jaime Esparza, who died while trying to save the life of
5 his father, Raul, Jr., when a fire blazed in their home; and
6 WHEREAS, Jose Jaime Esparza was born on September 23,
7 1967; he was known to his family and friends as Jaime and was
8 the General Manager of Community Services for the American
9 Red Cross of Greater Chicago; and
10 WHEREAS, For eight years, Jaime Esparza was a leader with
11 the American Red Cross to Chicago-area community groups and
12 youth in educating them to help save lives; he was committed
13 to the Youth Leadership Training, a Red Cross program that
14 offers learning opportunities to at-risk adolescents to help
15 them develop valuable life and job skills; and
16 WHEREAS, In memory of Jaime Esparza's life, the American
17 Red Cross has chosen to rename the Youth Leadership Training
18 the Jaime Esparza Youth Leadership Program; and
19 WHEREAS, Jaime Esparza was also involved in other
20 community services, including a Catholic volunteer group for
21 young adults, the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum in Pilsen,
22 and Quigley Seminary High School; and
23 WHEREAS, The passing of Jose Jaime Esparza will be deeply
24 felt by his family and friends, especially his mother, Maria;
25 his nine siblings; and his many nephews and nieces;
26 therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we note with sorrow and regret the death of Jose Jaime
30 Esparza and extend our sincere condolences to his family and
31 friends; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Jose Jaime Esparza.
