1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Dean Edward Thady is retiring from active
3 employment in the plumbing industry after devoting his life
4 to furthering the interests of the industry; and
5 WHEREAS, Dean Edward Thady began his career in the
6 plumbing industry in 1960, and was licensed as a journeyman
7 plumber on October 25, 1965, serving as a plumber in the
8 private sector for ten years; and
9 WHEREAS, Dean Edward Thady was employed as a Plumbing
10 Inspector in the Springfield Region of the Illinois
11 Department of Public Health in 1975, working as a plumbing
12 inspector throughout the region for six and one-half years;
13 he was appointed to the title of Plumbing Code Consultant,
14 serving as Chief Plumbing Inspector, on March 15, 1982, and
15 moved his office into the headquarters of the Illinois
16 Department of Public Health; he served in the position of
17 Chief Plumbing Inspector for eighteen years; and
18 WHEREAS, Dean Edward Thady grew in knowledge and
19 experience in the plumbing trade during his tenure with the
20 Illinois Department of Public Health, serving on both State
21 and national advisory committees and workgroups; he served as
22 an ambassador of good plumbing practices and good will with
23 State and national associations, such as the American Society
24 of Sanitary Engineering, the American Society of Plumbing
25 Engineers, the Illinois Association of Plumbing, Heating and
26 Cooling Contractors, the Illinois Backflow Prevention
27 Association, the Illinois Plumbing Inspectors Association,
28 the DuPage County Contractors Association, the Plumbing
29 Council of Chicagoland, the Plumbing Contractors Association
30 of Chicago and Cook County, and numerous local plumbing
31 organizations; and
32 WHEREAS, He acted as liaison with related professional

1 organizations and agencies, such as the Illinois Section
2 American Water Works Association, the Illinois Potable Water
3 Supply Operators Association, the Illinois Environmental
4 Protection Agency, the Illinois Department of Corrections,
5 the Illinois Department of Education, the Environmental
6 Resources Training Center at Southern Illinois
7 University-Edwardsville, and many local health departments,
8 water operator associations, and municipal official groups;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, Dean Edward Thady has contributed to the
11 education of plumbers, water supply operators, State and
12 local government officials, and consumers regarding the
13 Plumbing Code, plumbing practices, and cross-connection
14 control through his informative, colorful, and entertaining
15 presentations; he has worked to develop educational and
16 testing materials in cooperation with plumbing industry
17 organizations and municipal organizations; he has given
18 freely of his personal time as well as his professional
19 career to further the interests of the plumbing industry; and
20 WHEREAS, Dean Edward Thady serves his local community as
21 Village President of Manchester; he works as a back-up
22 Certified Water Supply Operator for the Manchester public
23 water supply; he serves as an active member of the Manchester
24 Baptist Church, working at the present time to help construct
25 a community center addition to the church; he is a member of
26 the Masonic order and the Manchester American Legion Post;
27 and
28 WHEREAS, Dean Edward Thady has completed all these
29 activities while enjoying his marriage to LaVerne Thady, his
30 relationships with his son, Jonathan, his daughter-in-law,
31 Tammy, and his grandson, Nathan; he is known as a loving
32 husband, father, and grandfather; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we declare November 28, 2000 to be Dean Edward Thady Day in
4 the State of Illinois; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to Dean Edward Thady.
