1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor milestone dates in the
4 lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio J. Venezia is retiring after 45
6 years of service in the field of dentistry; and
7 WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio J. Venezia received his D.D.S. from
8 the University of Tennessee in 1954; in 1960, he served his
9 Externship at Walter Reed Institute of Dental Research; in
10 1961, he received his M.S. in Physiology/Orthodontics from
11 Northwestern University; and
12 WHEREAS, From 1954 through 1967, Dr. Antonio J. Venezia
13 served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Lt.
14 Colonel, where he served as consultant to Dental Surgeon,
15 United States Army-Europe in Orthodontics and Periodontics;
16 and
17 WHEREAS, During the period 1954 through 1967, Dr. Antonio
18 J. Venezia originated and developed postgraduate courses in
19 orthodontics and periodontics to be presented to general
20 dentists under the auspices of the Surgeon General (USAREUR);
21 and
22 WHEREAS, From 1966 to the present, Dr. Antonio J. Venezia
23 has been in private practice of orthodontics in Illinois;
24 with thirty-five of those years having been spent in
25 Flossmoor, Illinois; and
26 WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio J. Venezia has received many
27 professional honors, among those being Diplomate, American
28 Board of Orthodontics; Fellow, American College of Dentists,
29 International College of Dentists and Chicago Institute of
30 Medicine; and "Man of the Year" for 1993 by the Illinois
31 Section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy; and

1 WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio J. Venezia has held numerous
2 academic and journalistic positions, among those being
3 Assistant Clinical Professor at Northwestern University from
4 1970 through 1978; Guest Lecturer at the University of
5 Detroit from 1976 through 1981 and Northwestern University
6 from 1978 through 1996; Scientific Editor for the CDS Review
7 of the Chicago Dental Society from 1971 through 1993; and
8 Chairman of the Scientific Review Committee, CDS Review from
9 1993 to the present day; and
10 WHEREAS, As an educator, Dr. Antonio J. Venezia has
11 presented numerous lectures, seminars and symposiums
12 throughout the world, has appeared as a featured clinician on
13 the programs of the Chicago Dental Society and has presented
14 major papers in Mexico, France, Germany, Spain and throughout
15 the United States; and
16 WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio J. Venezia has held numerous
17 professional offices, the most current being as President of
18 the Chicago Dental Society which has the honor of being one
19 of the most active dental societies in the world; and
20 WHEREAS, Among Dr. Antonio J. Venezia's many pastimes and
21 recreation, he has received the One Million Feet Award for
22 CMH (Canada) helicopter skiing; the certified "Advanced Open
23 Water Scuba Diver" with 200 dives throughout the world and
24 competed over 10 years in International "Gran Touring" hill
25 climb and racetrack championships; and
26 WHEREAS, On January 13, 2001, Joan Venezia, his loving
27 wife, and the doctors and staff of Orthodontic Associates are
28 honoring Dr. Venezia with a gathering of family, friends and
29 associates at Mr. Benny's Restaurant in Matteson, Illinois to
30 pay tribute to his years of dentistry, specifically in the
31 practice of Orthodontics; therefore, be it
32 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we congratulate Dr. Antonio J. Venezia on his retirement; and
3 be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Dr. Antonio J. Venezia as an expression of our
6 esteem.
