 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 834

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 834 on page 1,  by
 3    replacing lines 29 through 31 with the following:
 4    "the  year in which his or her term commences, except in case
 5    of an appointment to fill a vacancy.  In case of vacancy when
 6    the Senate is  not  in  session,  the  Governor  may  make  a
 7    temporary  appointment  until  the next meeting of the Senate
 8    when a person shall be nominated to fill the office, and  any
 9    person so nominated who is confirmed by the Senate shall hold
10    office during the remainder of the term and until a successor
11    is appointed and qualified."; and

12    on page 2, by deleting lines 1 through 5.
