1 AN ACT to amend the Redevelopment Project Rehousing Act
2 by changing the title and Sections 0.01 and 2.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Redevelopment Project Rehousing Act is
6 amended by changing the title and Sections 0.01 and 2 as
7 follows:

9 An Act in relation to rehousing persons residing in the
10 areas of redevelopment projects undertaken pursuant to the
11 "Blighted Areas Redevelopment Act of 1947" enacted by the
12 Sixty-fifth General Assembly, and to provide for state and
13 municipal contributions therefor, and capital improvements to
14 the projects built pursuant to this Act.

16 Sec. 0.01. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
17 Redevelopment Project Rehousing and Capital Improvements Act.

20 Sec. 2. Any housing authority may apply to the
21 Department of Commerce and Community Affairs for the grant of
22 a sum from the amount to be appropriated for this Act to
23 develop housing projects pursuant to the "Housing Authorities
24 Act", approved March 19, 1934, as amended, to facilitate and
25 aid in the rehousing of persons eligible for tenancy under
26 said Act residing in the site of a redevelopment project who
27 could not otherwise be rehoused in decent, safe and
28 uncongested dwelling accommodations within their financial
29 reach.

1 Upon a showing of need of a grant from the amount
2 appropriated for this Act and that the sum so granted will be
3 satisfactorily employed by the housing authority in the
4 development of housing projects for the purposes authorized
5 by this Act, the Director of the Department of Commerce and
6 Community Affairs shall transmit to the State Comptroller a
7 statement of approval and of the amount of the grant, and
8 when the municipality has paid to the housing authority an
9 amount at least equal to the amount of the approved grant,
10 the Comptroller shall pay the amount of the approved grant to
11 the housing authority from the appropriation for grants under
12 this Act. Such payment completes all obligations assumed by
13 the State under the provisions of this Act. The amount so
14 granted together with the amount contributed by the city,
15 village or incorporated town in which the redevelopment
16 project is situated shall be deposited in a separate fund and
17 shall be applied only to the planning, acquisition, and
18 development, and capital improvements of the approved housing
19 project or projects for the purposes authorized by this Act
20 and the Housing Authorities Act. The expenditure of any
21 moneys from such separate fund and the location of the
22 rehousing project or projects shall be subject to the
23 approval of the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs
24 and the governing body of the municipality in which the
25 redevelopment project is located.

27 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
28 becoming law.
