1 AN ACT making appropriations for education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The following named amounts, or so much
5 thereof as may be necessary, respectively, for the objects
6 and purposes hereinafter named, are appropriated from the
7 General Revenue Fund to the Board of Higher Education to meet
8 ordinary and contingent expenses for the fiscal year ending
9 June 30, 2001:

9 Section 30. The sum of $1,000,000, or so much thereof as
10 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
11 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for a grant for the
12 University Center of Lake County.
13 Section 35. The sum of $10,000,000, or so much thereof
14 as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
15 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for distribution as
16 incentive grants to Illinois higher education institutions in
17 the competition for external grants and contracts.
18 Section 40. The sum of $16,834,100, or so much thereof
19 as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
20 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for distribution as
21 grants authorized by Section 3 of the Illinois Financial
22 Assistance Act for Nonpublic Institutions of Higher Learning.
23 Section 45. The sum of $4,635,000, or so much thereof as
24 may be necessary, is appropriated from the Education
25 Assistance Fund to the Board of Higher Education for
26 distribution as grants authorized by Section 3 of the
27 Illinois Financial Assistance Act for Nonpublic Institutions
28 of Higher Learning.
29 Section 50. The following named amounts, or so much

21 Section 60. The sum of $2,800,000, or so much thereof as
22 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
23 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for distribution as
24 engineering equipment grants authorized by Section 9.13 of
25 the Board of Higher Education Act.
26 Section 65. The sum of $3,200,000, or so much thereof as
27 may be necessary, is appropriated from the BHE Federal Grants
28 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for grants from funds
29 provided under the Eisenhower Professional Development
30 Program.

1 Section 70. The sum of $3,445,000, or so much thereof as
2 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
3 Fund to the Department of Public Health for distribution of
4 medical education scholarships authorized by an Act to
5 provide grants for family practice residency programs and
6 medical student scholarships through the Illinois Department
7 of Public Health.
8 Section 75. The sum of $1,600,000, or so much thereof as
9 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
10 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for distribution as
11 grants authorized by the Illinois Consortium for Educational
12 Opportunity Act.
13 Section 80. The sum of $25,000, or so much thereof as
14 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
15 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for the Illinois
16 Occupational Information Coordinating Committee.
17 Section 81. The sum of $500,000, or so much thereof as
18 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
19 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for a grant for the
20 Geographic Alliance.
21 Section 82. The sum of $200,000, or so much thereof as
22 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
23 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for a study of higher
24 education finance and related costs.
25 Section 83. The sum of $10,000,000, or so much thereof as
26 may be necessary, is appropriated from the BHE Federal Grants
27 Fund to the Board of Higher Education to be expended under
28 the terms and conditions associated with the federal
29 contracts and grants moneys received.

1 Section 85. The sum of $2,500,000, or so much thereof as
2 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
3 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for distribution as
4 grants for Cooperative Work Study Programs to institutions of
5 higher education.
6 Section 87. The sum of $16,300,000, or so much thereof
7 as may be necessary, is appropriated from the Education
8 Assistance Fund to the Board of Higher Education for costs
9 related to the Illinois Century Network backbone, costs for
10 connecting colleges, universities, and others to the
11 backbone, and other costs related to development, use, and
12 maintenance of the Illinois Century Network.
13 Section 88. The sum of $250,000, or so much thereof as
14 may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue
15 Fund to the Board of Higher Education for graduation
16 incentives grants.
17 Section 90. The following named amounts, or so much
18 thereof as may be necessary, respectively, for the objects
19 and purposes hereinafter named, are appropriated from the
20 General Revenue Fund to the Illinois Mathematics and Science
21 Academy to meet ordinary and contingent expenses for the
22 fiscal year ending June 30, 2001:

2 Section 999. Effective date. This Act takes effect on
3 July 1, 2000.
