1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Betty Jones, who passed away January 6, 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, Betty Jones was born in St. Louis, Missouri on
6 April 4, 1930; she was a graduate of Central High School in
7 St. Louis; and
8 WHEREAS, Betty Jones was a secretary for Graham Paper Co.
9 in St. Louis, and later worked for Pere Marquette State Park
10 in Grafton, Illinois; she and her husband opened the Discount
11 House in Jerseyville in 1960, which they owned and operated
12 together; and
13 WHEREAS, Betty Jones was a member of the Eagles, the
14 Alton/Wood River Sportsman Club, the Alton Motor Boat Club,
15 the Calhoun Eastern Star Lodge 990, and the Jerseyville Moose
16 Lodge 695; and
17 WHEREAS, Betty Jones is survived by her husband, Hubert
18 Lewis Jones; her daughter, Nancy Jones, and son-in-law, Paul;
19 her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Mary Jones, Robert
20 and Kim Jones, and James and Sherrie Jones; she is survived
21 by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren;
22 therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
25 her family and friends, the death of Betty Jones of Grafton,
26 Illinois; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
28 presented to the family of Betty Jones.
