1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Mr. Larry Samuel Thompson of South Holland on
4 January 13, 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on
6 January 8, 1926, the son of Louvenia Nona Thompson and Edward
7 Thompson, Sr.; he and his family moved to Chicago in 1931;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Larry Thompson graduated from Englewood High
10 School in 1944; he served in the Signal Corps during World
11 War II as a civilian; he had a degree in Political Science
12 from Antioch College, an Associate's Degree in Pre-Law from
13 DePaul University, and he attended John Marshall Law School;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, He joined the Chicago Police Force in 1952 and
16 retired as a detective in 1980; he then managed a bingo
17 fundraising program for The Little City Foundation; in 1987,
18 he joined the Cook County Assessor's Office, retiring in
19 1998; and
20 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
21 and friends, especially his wife, Marianne; his mother,
22 Louvenia; and his brother, Edward, Jr.; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
25 and regret the death of Larry Samuel Thompson and extend our
26 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it
27 further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to his widow, Marianne Thompson.
