1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to honor
3 the memory of Peter Joseph Perez of Aurora, Illinois, who
4 passed away on February 8, 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, Peter Perez was born in Aurora on April 29,
6 1924; he graduated from St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in
7 1939 and Marmion Military Academy in 1943; he was a four year
8 varsity football player and team captain his senior year and
9 is honored as a member of the Marmion's Athletic Hall of
10 Fame; and
11 WHEREAS, In 1944 Mr. Perez attended the University of
12 Illinois, where his football playing ability received notice
13 from the Chicago Bears, who signed him up to play in 1945;
14 his position with the Bears was as a guard, playing both
15 offense and defense; from 1946 to 1950 he played football for
16 the Bethlehem Bulldogs in the American Football League; it
17 was at this time in his life that he met, fell in love with,
18 and married his wife, Marie; and
19 WHEREAS, Returning to Aurora, Mr. Perez went to work with
20 the C.B. & Q Railroad until 1958; he then began his 34-year
21 career in law enforcement with the Aurora Police Department,
22 retiring as a Lieutenant in 1979; he then went to work with
23 the Kane County Sheriff's Department, serving for 13 years as
24 Undersheriff and retiring in 1992; and
25 WHEREAS, Upon his retirement Mr. Perez served as a board
26 member of the Sheriff's Department Merit Commission; in the
27 1950's and 1960's he served as a youth football coach in
28 Aurora for the St. Joseph and St. Therese grade schools; and
29 WHEREAS, Peter Perez is survived by his wife; his
30 children and their spouses: Peter (Cindy) Perez, Michael
31 (Jill) Perez, Patrick (Terrie) Perez, Marsha (Stuart) Green,

1 Paul (Kara) Perez, and Matthew (Traci) Perez; his
2 grandchildren, Pete, Lisa, Ashley, Paige, Brian Michael,
3 Stephan, Gabriel, Nathaniel, Paris, Anthony, and Andrea; his
4 three brothers, Ben, Dan, and Walter (Emma) Perez; and his
5 many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the death of Peter Perez of Aurora,
9 Illinois; may they find peace and comfort in this time of
10 need; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of Peter Perez.
