1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 extend their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of
4 Sarah Etta Burrell, who passed away on April 6, 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, Sarah Burrell was born in Sunflower County,
6 Mississippi on March 14, 1925; her parents were Richard and
7 Mary Burrell; Sarah was the ninth of eleven children, with
8 four sisters and one brother preceding her in death; and
9 WHEREAS, Sarah Burrell confessed hope in Christ at an
10 early age and began her church history with the Mount Olive
11 Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Reverend
12 Harrison Banks; she then moved on to the Second Baptist
13 Church in Maywood, under the late Reverend Robert A. Hayden,
14 Sr.; and
15 WHEREAS, She became a member of Progressive Church of God
16 in Christ under the late Pastor Alford in the late fifties;
17 she later joined Good Shepard Church of God in Christ under
18 Elder Montgomery where she was a faithful member; and
19 WHEREAS, Sarah Burrell is survived by her son, Eugene
20 Moore; her grandchildren, Dawanna (Omar), Natalie, and Eric;
21 her six great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Turner; her
22 brothers, Jesse, George, Leon (Jessie Mae), and Richard Jr.
23 (Mary); and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends;
24 therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
27 all who knew and loved her, the passing of Sarah Etta
28 Burrell; may all who seek a need for peace at this time find
29 what they are looking for; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
31 presented to the family of Sarah Etta Burrell.
