1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate extend their
3 sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Ernest
4 Belvery Neely, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Ernest Neely, or "Blick" to his friends, was
6 born in East Saint Louis on September 23, 1924; he graduated
7 from Lincoln Senior High and attended St. Louis University;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Ernest Neely served in the Korean Conflict
10 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal on November 8,
11 1951; Mr. Ernest Neely was a United States Deputy Marshall,
12 and a captain of the East Saint Louis Fire Department until
13 his retirement after serving for 23 years; and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Ernest Neely attended church along with his
15 family at Pilgrim Temple A.M.E., Wesley-Bethel United
16 Methodist, and Refuge Temple; he was a member of Fire
17 Fighters Local 23, and V.F.W. Post 348; he was an inactive
18 member of Aahmes Temple 132, Tyree Consistory 64, and the
19 Southern Cross Lodge 112; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Ernest Neely is survived by his daughters,
21 Sharon Smith and Charita Romious; his son, Arnold (Carmalita)
22 Neely; his brothers, James Neely and Earl (Carol) Neely; his
23 sister-in-law, Beatrice Neely; his grandchildren, Winfred
24 "Karl" McKinney, Arnold Neely Jr., Alecia Neely, NiYa Smith,
25 and Ashley Neely; as well as nieces, nephews, relatives, and
26 friends; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29 his family and friends, the death of Mr. Ernest Neely of East
30 Saint Louis, Illinois; may they find peace and comfort in
31 this time of loss; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Mr. Ernest Neely.
