1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of John Calvin "C.J." Spruiell of East St. Louis
4 on Saturday, July 3, 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Spruiell enlisted in the United States Navy,
6 where he served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and
7 five other major battles; during his tour he obtained the
8 rank of First Class Petty Officer; and
9 WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church
10 and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veteran's
11 Auxiliary; and
12 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
13 and friends, especially his wife, Lucille; his sons, Joel,
14 John Carl, James Calvin, Joseph Carey, and Jason Cecil; his
15 daughters, Fredricka Leola and Teresa Ann; his
16 daughters-in-law, Vicki, Sarah, Bonnie, LaShawn, and Sonya;
17 his twenty-seven grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren;
18 his sister, Adele Tripplett; his brothers, Lucious and Jesse
19 James; and his sisters-in-law, Florine, Ola Marie, and
20 Hattie; therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
22 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
23 and regret the death of John Calvin "C.J." Spruiell and
24 extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and
25 be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to his widow, Lucille V. Spruiell.
