1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Cora Lee Jenkins on Saturday, July 31, 1999;
4 and
5 WHEREAS, She was born in Whatkinsville, Georgia, on
6 November 25, 1918; the family moved to Chicago when she was
7 about seven years old; she was left an orphan when she was
8 eight years old; and
9 WHEREAS, She married Harry Eugene Jenkins in 1942, and to
10 this union were born five daughters; her husband preceded her
11 in death on October 11, 1974; and
12 WHEREAS, The family moved to Cassopolis, Michigan, in
13 1962 and first joined the Vandalia Church of God and then
14 Coulter's Chapel Church of God in Niles; she testified often
15 about the many times God healed her body as well as her soul;
16 and
17 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by her family
18 and friends, especially her daughters, Joan Johnson, Patricia
19 Staples, Artis Smith, Pamela Adams, and Phyllis
20 Jenkins-Bouie; her sons-in-law, Comer Staples, James Smith,
21 Paul Adams, and Reginale Bouie; her twenty-one grandchildren;
22 and her forty great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
25 and regret the death of Cora Lee Jenkins and extend our
26 sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it
27 further
28 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
29 presented to the family of Cora Lee Jenkins.
