1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Betty Louise Beauchamp, who recently
4 passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Betty Louise Beauchamp was born in Joliet,
6 Illinois, on November 3, 1929; her parents were Angela Lewis
7 and the late John J. Lewis, Sr.; and
8 WHEREAS, Betty Louise Beauchamp is survived by her
9 mother, Angela Lewis; her husband, Eugene Beauchamp; her
10 daughter, State Representative Wanda J. Sharp and her
11 husband, David; her son, Gary Reginald Beauchamp; her son,
12 Ronald Keith Beauchamp and his wife, LaVerne; her daughter,
13 Cheryl Renee Gatewood and her husband, Gregory; her
14 step-children, Delores Beauchamp and Joseph Eugene "Junior"
15 Beauchamp and his wife, Inez; her mother-in-law, Lillie G.
16 Beauchamp; her brother, Clarence Lewis and his wife, Barbara;
17 her sisters, Bernice Sykes and her husband, William, Carol
18 Lewis, and Naomi Webber and her husband, Robert; her special
19 great niece, Mariah Lynch; her sister-in-law, Jann Beauchamp;
20 her brother-in-law, Albert Victor (A.V.) Beauchamp; her
21 aunts, Lillie Canada, Betty Mapp, and Mary Ellen Williams;
22 her special granddaughter, Constance Evette Sharp; and many
23 other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and
24 WHEREAS, Betty Louise Beauchamp worked, at different
25 times in her life, for Bramson Clothing Store, Jefferson
26 Electric, Illinois Bell, Chat's Corner, and St. Eulalia Grade
27 School; and
28 WHEREAS, Betty Louise Beauchamp and her husband, Eugene,
29 were married in September of 1958; together with their
30 children from previous marriages they traveled the world,
31 until Mr. Beauchamp retired from the United States Army; and

1 WHEREAS, Betty Louise Beauchamp served faithfully at the
2 Second Baptist Church in Maywood, under the pastorate of
3 Reverend Wallace W. Sykes; she was a member of the Junior
4 Choir, Young Peoples Choir, and the Gospel Chorus; she was a
5 Women's Day Captain for 25 years, and helped initiate the
6 Willing Workers Club, which made Christmas crafts in the
7 winter; and
8 WHEREAS, Betty Louise Beauchamp will be remembered for
9 teaching children to sing her favorite song, "Jesus Loves
10 Me"; and
11 WHEREAS, "Auntie Bett", as she was fondly called by her
12 family, is remembered for keeping others laughing; she is
13 also remembered for her beautiful smile; therefore, be it
14 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16 all who knew her, the death of Betty Louise Beauchamp; may
17 there be a sense of comfort and peace at this time; and be it
18 further
19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of Betty Louise Beauchamp, along with
21 our sincere sympathy.
