1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the recent death of Paul C. Burke, of Waukegan,
4 Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Paul C. Burke was born in Syracuse, New York on
6 March 9, 1918; he had been a resident of Waukegan for 55
7 years; he was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish; and
8 he was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the
9 United States Navy; and
10 WHEREAS, Paul C. Burke was a member of the Homer
11 Dahringer American Legion Post 281; he was a former two term
12 President of the Lake County Retired Teachers Association; he
13 was a former board member of the Home Savings and Loan of
14 Waukegan; he was a former member of the Waukegan City Club;
15 he was a member of the Honest Johns Club; he was a past
16 president of the Hyde Park School PTO; he had been active in
17 Catholic Charities at one time;and he served as the 4th Ward
18 Alderman from 1973 to 1979; and
19 WHEREAS, Paul C. Burke was a teacher and administrator
20 for Waukegan Public Schools from 1946 to 1983; he was
21 superintendent of Waukegan Township High School from 1961 to
22 1971; after his retirement as a teacher he served the City of
23 Waukegan as Public Works Safety Director from 1987 to 1993;
24 and
25 WHEREAS, Paul C. Burke is survived by his children,
26 Marianne (Ed) Semrad, Maureen (Tony) Domerchie, Daniel (Abbe)
27 Burke, Catherine (Bob) Powers, Patricia (Ray) Vukovich, and
28 Bridget (Ted) Morrill; his grandchildren, Mike Semrad, Jean
29 Bench, Molly Bench, Ryan Bench, Gavin Burke, Katie Burke,
30 Jessica Powers, Paul Vukovich, Emily Vukovich, Mary Vukovich,
31 Burke Morrill, Conor Morrill, Neal Morrill, Danny Morrill,
32 and Maggie Morrill; and his brother, Robert (Jean) Burke;

1 therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
4 all that knew this man, the death of Paul C. Burke; and be it
5 further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to the family of Paul C. Burke.
