1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 extend their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of
4 John D. Graham, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, John D. Graham was born in Riverside and moved
6 to Rock Island at the age of 9; and
7 WHEREAS, John D. Graham was a graduate of St. Ambrose
8 College where he majored in chemistry; after his graduation
9 in 1935 he went to work for International Harvester in Rock
10 Island, retiring as director of engineering research in 1978;
11 while working for International Harvester he held four
12 heating patents; and
13 WHEREAS, John D. Graham was a member of the American
14 Society of Metal, the American Society of Automotive
15 Engineers, and the American National Standards Review Board;
16 in 1981 he received the William Hunt Eisenman Award and a
17 certificate of appreciation from Gear Research Institute; and
18 WHEREAS, Mr. Graham also worked as a computer consultant
19 with Dynamic Data Corp., where he helped run Inner Line, a
20 nationwide banking on-line network; and
21 WHEREAS, Since 1955 John D. Graham has been a resident of
22 Hinsdale; he served on the Village Board for three years; he
23 was a member of the Union Church of Hinsdale, singing in the
24 choir for more than 40 years and presiding over many church
25 boards; Mr. Graham also served as the president and chairman
26 of the Chicago String Ensemble from 1982 to 1986; and
27 WHEREAS, John D. Graham is survived by his wife, Floryn;
28 his son, Philip; his daughter, Virginia; and his two
29 grandchildren; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
2 all that knew him, the death of John D. Graham; and be it
3 further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of John D. Graham.
