1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Robert Gentry Noland of Pottstown,
4 Pennsylvania, formerly of Bradenton, Florida, on Friday,
5 December 24, 1999; and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Noland was born in Boody on January 17,
7 1913, the son of the late Samuel and Olive Gentry Noland; he
8 received a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Millikin
9 University in Decatur and a Master's Degree from Columbia
10 University in New York; and
11 WHEREAS, He joined his brother, Gilbert, singing with
12 Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians; he sang on various NBC
13 radio programs for twenty years and was a solo voice for the
14 first children's plastic records; and
15 WHEREAS, He was director of the Robert Noland Chorus and
16 Ridgewood Singers in New Jersey for twenty years; he was a
17 soloist in many churches and directed multiple choirs in New
18 York and Bradenton, Florida; and
19 WHEREAS, He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in
20 Bradenton, where he served as music director for twenty-five
21 years; and
22 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; a
23 daughter, Patricia; a grandchild, Chip; and his brothers and
24 sister, Blake, Daniel, Charles, Brown, Ralph, Gilbert, and
25 Joseph Noland and Coreen Haddon; and
26 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
27 and friends, especially his wife, Marna; his daughters and
28 sons-in-law, Candice and Richard Brucker and Cheryl and H.
29 Charles Markofski; his brother, Morris; his five
30 grandchildren; and his nephew, Senator Duane Noland;
31 therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
3 and regret the death of Robert Gentry Noland and extend our
4 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it
5 further
6 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
7 presented to the family of Robert Gentry Noland.
