1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of Dale Clow Born, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Dale Born was born on July 10, 1931, in Cerro
6 Gordo; his parents were Fred E. and Gladys Clow Born; he grew
7 up near Cerro Gordo on a farm; he attended Centennial Grade
8 School and graduated from Cerro Gordo High School; and
9 WHEREAS, Dale Born was a veteran of the Korean War, where
10 he served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955;
11 he retired from A.E. Staley in Decatur in 1987, where he
12 worked as a maintenance supervisor; he farmed for 35 years in
13 the Oakley area, collected antique tractors, and was a member
14 of the two-cylinder club; and
15 WHEREAS, Dale Born was a member of the Cerro Gordo Church
16 of the Brethren; he served as a member of the church board
17 and was a past board chairman; he was a member of the Cerro
18 Gordo Volunteer Fire Department and a trustee of the Cerro
19 Gordo Fire District, where he served as secretary; he was a
20 member of the Cerro Gordo Community Development Committee,
21 where he served as president and was active in the Fat Hill
22 Festival each year; and
23 WHEREAS, Dale Born was a member and past commander of the
24 American Legion Post 117; he served on the Cerro Gordo
25 Village Board as a trustee from 1965 to 1971 and was the
26 village president from 1971 to 1985; he had been a member of
27 the Board of Directors of the Cerro Gordo Building and Loan,
28 S.B., since 1993; and he served on the Cerro Gordo Ambulance
29 Board; and
30 WHEREAS, Dale Born is survived by his wife, Nancy; his
31 children, Ron (Jackie) Born, Jo Ellyn (Terry) Curran, Kelly

1 (Jim) West, and Kim (Scott) Connour; his grandchildren,
2 Shannon and Derek Born, Dustin Curran, Kaylin, Tycen, and
3 Jesek West, and Clayton Connour; his sisters, Eileen (Fred)
4 Barlow and Elaine (Don) Metzger; and his brothers, Max
5 (Hilda) Born and Duane (Linda) Born; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 all who knew him, Dale Born of Cerro Gordo; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Dale Born.
