1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Timothy J. Bresnahan of Glenview, former
4 business manager of the International Brotherhood of
5 Electrical Workers Union Local 134, on Wednesday, February
6 16, 2000; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Bresnahan was an official with the union for
8 more than forty years, having served as an administrator,
9 financial secretary of the local, and business manager; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Bresnahan was appointed in 1981 by Governor
11 James Thompson as a director of the Illinois State Toll
12 Highway Authority, a position he left in 1992; in the 1980s,
13 he accompanied the Governor on trade missions to Russia,
14 China, Japan, and Europe; and
15 WHEREAS, He was an executive board member of the Chicago
16 Federation of Labor, a member of the leadership committee of
17 the Chicago and Cook County Building Trades Council, vice
18 chairman of the Electrical Insurance Trustees, and chairman
19 of the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trustees;
20 and
21 WHEREAS, He raised money for the Maryville City of Youth,
22 a home for children in Des Plaines; for seven years, he was
23 chairman of the home's annual fundraiser; and
24 WHEREAS, Mr. Bresnahan attended St. George High School
25 and graduated from Loyola University with a degree in
26 business administration; he was a veteran of the United
27 States Navy during World War II; and
28 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his first wife,
29 Dorothy; and
30 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family

1 and friends, especially his wife, Margaret; his sons,
2 Timothy, Earl, Steven, Jesse, and Dennis; his daughters,
3 Maryann Wolowiec, Kathleen Bresnahan, and Geri
4 Bresnahan-Brinkmann; his brother, John; and his thirteen
5 grandchildren; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
8 and regret the death of Timothy J. Bresnahan and express our
9 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it
10 further
11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to his widow, Margaret Bresnahan.
