1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to send
3 their sincere condolences to the family and friends of James
4 B. Daken, of Peoria, Illinois, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, James Daken was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on
6 November 12, 1941; his parents were James and Agnes Hohnecker
7 Daken; on December 30, 1977 he married Peggy Spencer in
8 Hartford, Connecticut; and
9 WHEREAS, James Daken received his Bachelor's degree in
10 political science and his Master's degree in public
11 administration from the University of Cincinnati, where he
12 also attended law school; and
13 WHEREAS, James Daken was the youngest city manager ever,
14 when he was city manager of Toledo, Ohio, from 1971 to 1976;
15 he was then city manager of Hartford from 1976 to 1978; from
16 1979 to 1987 he served as Peoria's city manager; for the next
17 nine years he served as vice president of Foster & Gallagher
18 Inc.; from August of 1997 to June of 1999 he was the
19 executive director of the Peoria Historical Society; from
20 June of 1999 to the present he was the Peoria County
21 administrator; and
22 WHEREAS, James Daken was president of the Peoria Rotary
23 Club in 1997; he was a member of the International City
24 Management Association; he was a board member of the Peoria
25 Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Heart of Illinois United
26 Way, a member of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, a
27 member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and a member
28 of the Board of Governors at Forest Park Foundation; and
29 WHEREAS, James Daken is survived by his wife, Peggy; his
30 sons, Russ and Kevin; and his daughters, Amy and Sarah;
31 therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
3 all that knew and loved him, the death of James Daken; and be
4 if further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of James Daken.
