1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends
4 of George H. Roberts of Downers Grove, Illinois, who recently
5 passed away; and
6 WHEREAS, George Roberts was born in Chicago, Illinois and
7 raised in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood; he was a retired
8 supervisor with Commonwealth Edison Company; he was a member
9 of Commonwealth Edison Post 118; and
10 WHEREAS, George Roberts was a veteran of World War II; he
11 received a Combat Infantryman's medal and two Bronze Stars
12 for his heroism during the Rhineland-Central Europe and
13 Africa-Middle East Campaigns; he served with the 42nd Rainbow
14 Division and was a part of the Army of Occupation in Austria;
15 and
16 WHEREAS, George Roberts was a fan of baseball, who
17 carried around a Chicago Tribune article that spoke of his
18 pitching a no-hitter when he was sixteen; he was a fan of the
19 Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears; he also enjoyed bowling
20 and boating; and
21 WHEREAS, George Roberts is survived by his wife, Annette;
22 his daughter, Dale Jeanne Furchtsam; and his four
23 grandchildren; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
25 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
26 all that knew and loved him, the death of George H. Roberts
27 of Downers Grove, Illinois; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the family of George Roberts.
