1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Mrs. Betty T. Comstock of
4 Springfield, Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Betty Comstock was a vital part of the Illinois
6 Senate for twenty-four years, serving fifteen years as chief
7 journal clerk until her retirement in 1993; Betty Comstock
8 prepared the daily calendars, the resolution consent
9 calendars, and the journals; she was responsible for bill
10 status, preparing messages for the House of Representatives,
11 and preparing bills for their next action; she was in charge
12 of distributing introduced bills, amendments, veto messages,
13 Governor's messages, and executive appointments; she assisted
14 Senate Enrolling and Engrossing in transcribing Senate
15 debates; she indexed the final journals; she aided others
16 when they needed her assistance and was a wonderful friend
17 and mentor to all who had the privilege of working with her;
18 and
19 WHEREAS, On October 20, 1951 she married William Comstock
20 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springfield; and
21 WHEREAS, Betty Comstock was a charter member of Christ
22 the King Parish; she was active in the Republican party; and
23 she assisted her husband in his work with the Gateway
24 Foundation; and
25 WHEREAS, The passing of Mrs. Betty Comstock will be felt
26 by all that knew and loved her, especially her children, Pat
27 Baker, Theresa (Terry) Peebles, and Jennifer (Todd) Bichsel;
28 her grandchildren, Breanna, Kyle, Dan, and Nicole; and her
29 brothers, Bob (Jane) Teater, and Jerry (Judy) Teater;
30 therefore, be it
31 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
2 all that knew and were touched by this dear lady, the death
3 of Mrs. Betty T. Comstock of Springfield, Illinois; and be it
4 further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of Mrs. Betty T. Comstock.
