1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 express their sincere condolences upon hearing of the death
4 of Janet Ross Campbell; and
5 WHEREAS, Janet Ross Campbell was born in Harrisburg,
6 Illinois on December 2, 1941; she received Jesus Christ as
7 her Savior at an early age and was baptized at Friendship
8 Baptist Church; and
9 WHEREAS, Janet Ross Campbell was a charter member of the
10 Michigan State University Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta
11 Sorority, Incorporated; she attended the East St. Louis
12 public schools; she graduated from Pershing High School in
13 Detroit, Michigan; she received her Bachelor of Science
14 degree from Michigan State University; she received her
15 Jurist Doctor degree from St. Louis University Law School and
16 a L.L.M. degree in taxation from Washington University Law
17 School; and
18 WHEREAS, In her lifetime Janet Ross Campbell worked as an
19 English teacher in Illinois and Michigan, an Assistant
20 Solicitor of Labor, the Senior Counsel of the Maryland
21 General Assembly, Counsel for Morgan State University, an
22 Assistant Public Defender for St. Clair County, and in
23 private practice; and
24 WHEREAS, The passing of Janet Ross Campbell will be felt
25 by all who knew her, especially her husband, Johnny E.
26 Campbell; her father, James C. Ross, and his wife, Yvonne;
27 her daughters, Sylvia M. Campbell, Gloria O. Campbell, and
28 Janeen Campbell Card; her sons, Carl B. (Stephanie) Evans and
29 David E. (Rowena) Campbell; her nine grandchildren; her
30 sister, Shelby J. Ross; and her many nieces, nephews,
31 cousins, other relatives, sorors, and many friends;
32 therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
3 all who knew her, the death of Janet Ross Campbell; and be it
4 further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of Janet Ross Campbell.
