    AN ACT concerning municipalities.

    Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:

    Section  5.  The  Illinois  Municipal  Code is amended by
adding Sections 8-9-4 and 8-10-26 as follows:

    (65 ILCS 5/8-9-4 new)
    Sec. 8-9-4.  Long-term contracts.  Any  municipality  may
enter into a long-term energy contract, even if the length of
the contract would exceed the term of office of the corporate
authorities that approved the contract.
