AN ACT concerning children.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The Children and Family Services Act is amended |
by adding Section 6.5 as follows: |
(20 ILCS 505/6.5 new) |
Sec. 6.5. Children; methamphetamine; protocol. |
(a) The Department of Children and Family Services, the |
Department of State Police, and the State Board of Education |
shall jointly develop a sample protocol to be followed by the |
Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of |
State Police or a local law enforcement agency, or a school |
when: |
(1) a person or persons are arrested for manufacturing |
methamphetamine at a place where a child under 18 years of |
age resides; or |
(2) the Department of Children and Family Services, the |
Department of State Police or a local law enforcement |
agency, or a school has reason to believe that a child |
under 18 years of age is being exposed to an environment |
where methamphetamine is manufactured or used. |
(b) At a minimum, the protocol developed under this Section |
must do the following: |
(1) Provide for an appropriate custodian of the |
affected child. |
(2) Provide for the necessary care and supervision of |
the affected child, including appropriate shelter, |
clothing, food, and medical care. |
(3) Provide for the child's attendance at an |
appropriate school. |
(c) The Department of Children and Family Services, the |
Department of State Police, and the State Board of Education |
