AN ACT concerning fire safety.
|
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Fire |
and Life Safety Device Act. |
Section 5. Fire protection devices neither designed nor |
capable of function. |
(a) The manufacture, installation, or sale of any device or |
object that reasonably appears to be a smoke detector, |
sprinkler head, carbon monoxide alarm, heat detector, or any |
other similar device used for life safety or fire protection |
that is, in fact, neither designed nor capable of performing |
such life safety or fire protection function, is prohibited. |
(b) A person who violates this Act is guilty of a petty |
offense and shall be fined a maximum of $100 for the first |
offense, $500 for the second offense, and $1,000 for the third |
or subsequent offense. Each day that a device or devices are |
installed in violation of this Section constitutes a separate |
offense. |

Inspectors employed by municipalities, fire protection |
districts, and counties, those individuals who meet the |
requirements of subsection (f) of Section 20 of the Fire |
Sprinkler Contractor Licensing Act, and individuals licensed |
