AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
represented in the General Assembly:
|
Section 5. The Veterinary Medicine and Surgery Practice Act |
of 2004 is amended by adding Section 19.2 as follows:

Sec. 19.2. Patient requests for prescriptions. |
Veterinarians shall honor a client's request for a prescription |
in lieu of dispensing a drug when a veterinarian-client-patient |
relationship exists and the veterinarian has determined that |
the drug is medically necessary.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
becoming law.
